Violinist Lino Tanaka, originally from Sao Paulo, Brazil, performed his undergraduate studies at the University of Sao Paulo, where he received a Bachelors Degree in Violin Performance. He later came to the United States to study at the New England Conservatory of Music from which he received a Masters Degree and Graduate Diploma in violin performance. Lino has enjoyed an extensive career as a violinist and is prizewinner of Sao Paulo State Orchestra Soloist Competition, 1996 (Sao Paulo, Brazil), Orchestra of Experimental Repertoire Soloist Competition, 1989 (Sao Paulo, Brazil), as well as New Hampshire on the Arts Grant, 2002- participated as soloist on March 3, 2002 concert in Conway, NH. The net proceeds of the concert were shared equally by IMAI and the Conway Historical Society (for the benefit of the Salyards Museum of White Mountain Art). The concert was video taped and used as material for application for funding for the IMAI "Northward Bound" chamber music series. This series is a project which provides under-served communities in Northern New Hampshire with chamber music concerts in three different towns throughout the month of July. His solo appearances have included Hingham Symphony Chamber Players 2006, Accord Chamber Players 2005 , Boston, MA; International Music Arts Chamber Orchestra, Maine and N.H. 2000, 2002; Sao Paulo State Symphony Orchestra, 1996; Experimental Repertoire Symphony Orchestra, 1989; Prados Festival Chamber Orchestra ,1989. Lino Tanaka has also been a participant in numerous music festivals such as: International Music Arts Institute (Maine), Tibor Varga Festival (Switzerland), Londrina Music Festival (Brazil), Prados Festival (Brazil) and the Vulcan Festival (Brazil). He is currently member of the Vermont Symphony Orchestra and several other regional groups. He also serves as president for the Beethoven Society of Melrose, MA.
